This USB double ended dongle has on it the Android OS(operating system), a dual-core 1.2-GHz Samsung Exynos ARM CPU (same as in the Galaxy S II),Wi-fi, Bluetooth, USB 2.0(although in future models it will have USB 3.0 for faster connections) and HDMI output. It also features a Micro SD card slot for external memory.
Although it may look like an USB slot it is in fact a complete computer. If you have for instance a monitor with a USB slot you can plug this device in and it will run as a computer normally would. It can also plug into a computer running another OS and it will open up Android in it's own safe window. This means that if you wish to work with two separate operating systems you can do so easily without having to go through the labour of creating a partition on your hard drive and installing the OS. Also even if you already have all that work done you still have to shut down your computer to access either OS. This cuts out the need to do that.
At the moment it only runs Android or Ubuntu Linux but in the future it should be able to run Windows 8.
Due to it's USB and/or HDMI connection it should be able to turn just about anything with a screen into a fully working computer, from TV's to phones, they can all be used as a computer.
The device can also output 1080p so a full HD screen can be used perfectly!
This is going to be an astounding development in the means of technology and convenience for people across the world. It will become possible to transport a computer in your pocket, this will mean if you are forced to work away from home or your laptop you will have all the applications and programmes you need to continue your work. Also because of the cheap price it will be very attractive to everyone in these times of economic downfall.
In my opinion if public places such as internet cafés, airports, colleges, schools etc. were to remove the computers they have available to the public and simply have monitors and keyboards with USB ports this would first of all save them an abundance of money but secondly it will improve personal security for the user. Often when people use public computers they forget to log out of the sites that they visit and so they leave themselves open to attack either on internet banking or social networking sites. If the user has to supply and use their own computer it wont matter if they stay logged in or not because no one else will be able to access their accounts in any way or form.
I really hope the Cotton Candy proceeds further than the development stage and becomes available to the public for purchase as I believe it will be a truly astounding device.
