I have decided to write about an article I found about the Pentax k-7. Pentax are a camera manufacturer who were an extremely popular choice back in the day of film with their Pracitka being a reliable and excellent camera.
Unfortunately when it came to the transition from film to digital Pentax fell behind as they were reluctant to move on. Now however Pentax have caught up producing an astounding range of digital cameras such as they Pentax Optio which is their standard point and shoots and the Pentax w90 which is again a point and shoot but it is waterproof to the extent that you can run it under a tap!
More important to me though is their dSLR range, these are the professional end cameras. They have several cameras and ever more lenses, their most impressive are the Pentax k-7 and Pentax k-5. The k-5 is the newer version on the two but I have a personal preference for the k-7 simply because I have been in contact with it and used it!
The Pentax k-7 is a lightweight easy to carry around dSLR in comparisson to some bulkier models, it only weighs 751grammes(including lens, memory card and battery)!
The k-7 is also water resistant with 77 protective seals found in the camera! This is a huge number and it also counts itself as dust proof. It is also quite resilient in colder temperatures, often when cameras are used in cold conditions they tend to slow down and become slightly unresponsive.
The camera has a reinforced chassis and is also extremely tough as a the body is made from magnesium alloy which allows for any rough and tumble that your camera may encounter!
The layout of the camera is very user friendly as well as the navigation buttons are all laid out beside the screen which allows for ease of use when shooting lots of pics! The screen as well is large so this allows you to view your pictures properly without having to transfer them to your pc/laptop straight away!
In my opinion the article that I read was very good from a camera buyers point of view, it gave good reasons why to choose the k7 over other brands and models. But it also lacked technical information such as what kind of mount the k-7 has, megapixels, sensor type and battery. I however found a chart that outlines all the more technical stuff about the k-7 along with the k-5 and k20D to act as a comparison! The article and chart combined provide an invaluable source for gaining information on the Pentax k-7! Cameras are my favourite type of technology as they beautifully record memories and scenes :)
